It’s quite common in rural Japan to see houses such as this crammed in between more modern homes. There are many homes that are quite obviously a danger to live in, but the government will not do anything about it, so people actually continue to live in such homes. The homes are then destroyed after the occupants pass away which in turn results in a newer home being built.
