Betterphoto.com Review - While I am ranting about Betterphoto.com courses, I thought I would add a few things that may not be aware of.

First, it is a common site to see “FULL” under the enrollment column. In most cases that I have found, this does not mean full. Rather it means the instructor is on vacation. Case in point…I took a class called “Digital Art Photography” in March and was the only student in the class. Well there was another student but they dropped out after the first lesson and presumably got their money back. Thus I was the only student in the class. Now in May and June, all classes by the instructor Mathew Bamberg are listed as “FULL”. I hardly believe that is the case with my experience in previous classes. Furthermore, the instructor has three classes.

Potentially new students are likely to interpret the word “FULL” as meaning the class is full of students and therefore popular. Betterphoto hopes probably that students will come running to join the class if it is popular. However, this couldn’t be farther from the truth. In this case Betterphoto should aptly write the word “VACATION” or “NO CLASS AVAILABLE” this month.

I also have found their website to be terribly slow and inconsistent at times with respect to uploading, editing, and viewing photos. I even wrote an email to support about the problems with the performance of their server. They were nice to admit the problems and that was fine, but I see the slowness is still there. Thus I have switched to a much better system called Zenfolio which I’ll write about shortly.

Another interesting note about Betterphoto is that I wrote that I was disappointed with my previous class in my “End of class” survery. Neither Betterphoto nor the instructor of “Achieving Visual Depth” bothered to contact me about the matter. Obviously they got my money and that was that. Or they perhaps thought I was expendable in the business system and I was just ignored.

In any event… buy beware.
