Recently I added a photo gallery to zenfolio.com. This is a fabulous online photography hosting system by the way and I highly recommend it. In fact you can get a $5.00 discount by using the referral code 3KR-415-FNU .
One of the best features of Zenfolio is the ability to use your own domain or subdomain as a CNAME to your gallery. I used the subdomain photography.jimtawood.net to point to my Zenfolio gallery. It all works very well and you can keep the links to yourself.
I currently administer several of my own Linux Servers and I use Cpanel/WHM for all of them. I thought I would share my settings in case others have trouble setting up their subdomains and Cname entry for Zenfolio.
First, you do not need to create a subdomain in Cpanel. I did not create one for my site so I would recommend just setting up the DNS cname entry only.
Second, you would add the following DNS entry to your DNS record for the domain you wish to have the subdomain for. Here it is with my domain.
photography 14400 IN CNAME zenfolio.com. ( Don’t forget the period after zenfolio.com)
Then in your zenfolio.com control panel under preferences you activate the Custom Domain and enter photography.jimatwood.net as your domain. ( User your subdomain of course for you website. )
Then you will have to wait up to 48 hours for everythign to activate. In my case it only took about one hour.
Hope this helps. Enjoy!
