Just received my new AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/4D IF-ED lense in the mail today. It’s absolutely a beautiful lense. I attached it to my Nikon D200 and rattled off a few test pictures hand held bumping up the ISO to 400 and in Shutter Priority at about 1/500 and every single picture came out extremely sharp! Light was not bad outside, but for the most part this lense is easily hand held to my surprise. It is also very light weight and a tad smaller than my 70-200mm VR zoom lense. What I really like about the lense is the fact that it’s a prime lense. I really enjoy the challenge of using what I’ve got and trying to find a great shot. It’s fantastic. I will try to post an example photo once I get a chance to take it out over the weekend. It’s going to be lots of fun for sure. Enjoy!
