BEWARE of Pixel Creator Pro! - Since this last post I decided to issue a warning to users who purchase Pixel Creator Pro. In order to register, you must bond the machine code of your computer to the keycode of Pixel Creator Pro. I understand Pixel Creator Pro wants to fight piracy, however there is a serious problem with this. If you should ever change computers, Pixel Creator Pro will no longer work. You will need to contact Pixel Creator Pro to request a new keycode. This is the problem. Pixel Creator Pro may not respond to their emails nor is there any assurance they will be in business in the near future. Thus your Pixel Creator Pro software investment will be lost unless you give the program over to some hackers to crack. I also ordered the CD for Pixel Creator Pro which is completely worthless because without the proper key, you can`t do anything with the program. However, the Pixel Creator Pro CD Rom will make a good coaster.
At the time of writing this amendment, I have still not received any word from Pixel Creator Pro about the transfer of my registration license to another computer. In effect, they have ripped me off and it`s wrong. It is bad for a company in my opinion to tie a software program to a machine code unless you are able to give proper and reliable support. Such major companies as Adobe, Microsoft, Apple, etc can get away with such licensing strategies if they exist because they can provide the proper updates and support over a long period of time.
Understand that Photoshop is a computer intensive software program. If you haven`t already, you will in the near future most likely upgrade your computer at some point to utilitze Photoshop updates such as CS, CS2, and CS3 coming soon. If Pixel Creator Pro will not upgrade or provide transfer keys for new computers, then they are simply taking your money in my book. To those users not familiar with Pixel Creator Pro, you need Photoshop in order to use the program. So, buyer beware about Pixel Creator Pro. Don`t buy it unless you intend to use the software on one computer and never change that computer in the future. The software and your license will die with that computer.
Better alternatives? Yes. You Select it and Fotofusion are much better. Yervant`s Page Gallery is not bad, but they don`t offer any support like Pixel Creator Pro. The registration system is not a problem however, like with Pixel Creator Pro.
Now back to my original post. If you can get past the huge Pixel Creator Pro licensing and registration problems, you will find a decent program.
Like many photographers and album creators out there, deciding on the best applications for your album page designs and workflow can be difficult. I primarily work in Photoshop CS2 and wish to stay in this environment because it’s comfortable for me and offers the most flexibility. My recent purchase of Pixel Creator Pro has really helped speed up the creation of my albums pages and has helped put the fun back into the process. Below I have attached an example of a page I designed using Pixel Creator Pro and Photoshop CS2. Note this is not a package template, but my own design using a blank 10×10 page template. PCP also makes it very easy to import Yervant Page Gallery templates by the way which I also have recently added to my workflow for an additional source of inspiration and ideas. I love the ability to stay in Photoshop and simply use Pixel Creator Pro to do my page design work. I have never done any Wedding Photography or Wedding albums, but I do find a lot of great info when researching in that area. Coffee Table albums are branching out beyond weddings these days and it’s exciting to see the new directions other photographers are taking.  Anyway, Pixel Creator Pro is a great program so far and I highly recommend it. I also found a way to integrate my Fotofusion album page collages into Photoshop CS2 as well which has really been wonderful. It’s going to be a great summer designing albums for the fashion hair models, family, and photography trips. Enjoy!
