Castle Skyward
Written by ricoche in Monday, April 28th 2008
Castle Skyward is just trying to get an interesting perspective on Nagoya Castle. Almost everywhere is looking up so it was a challenging to find something different. I wish there was a place to look down on the castle, but then I guess you couldn't call it a castle then.

Window Veins Japan
Written by ricoche in Monday, April 28th 2008
Window Veins of Nagoya Castle displays up close the detail of the walls and windows of the fortress. I managed to get lots of shots similar to this which were pretty cool. If anyone visits Nagoya Castle, be sure to bring a good zoom lens as you will need it to get up close like this. For this shot I had the 70-300 which worked very well I thought. I could [+]
Nagoya Castle with Age
Written by ricoche in Friday, April 25th 2008
I like putting that age processing on some of my Japan photos as it really gives that old Japan feel. This of course is Nagoya Castle on a avery beautiful day. Looking for different and interesting shots was a bit challenging as Nagoya Castle is postcarded to death, but that is one of the fun things about photography for me...trying to get something unique. Perhaps this is nothing new, but it's an [+]
Approaching Nagoya Castle
Written by ricoche in Friday, April 25th 2008
There are a couple of spots that EVERYONE photographs Nagoya from and this spot is not one of them. So I naturally took a picture here and found the result reather pleasing. I like the balance of the stone foundation, the foliage, and Nagoya Castle off in the distance. For those that have not visited Nagoya Castle, there is a lot space that can suck up your photograph rather quickly. I [+]
The Race!
Written by ricoche in Saturday, April 19th 2008
The red scooter is the Japan mail service. These guys drive their scooters like crazy as if they are always in a race to the finish line. The only other scooter riders that can compete with these guys are the Pizza delivery guys. Both are quite nuts when it comes to how they drive on the road. You really have to be careful. Here these two look like they are [+]
Shutter Jolt
Written by ricoche in Saturday, April 19th 2008
Although it's very difficult to get this look on purpose, my intention was to have a still background while the subject was in motion. Sometimes I can do this and the subject looks clear enough to keep it's identity. I didn't think this photo is too hard on the eyes. The suject is a Japanese mail carrier with the signature red bike and mailbox on the back.

Everybody Jump
Written by ricoche in Friday, April 18th 2008
Some school kids having fun during a physical education class. I took a couple of shots not expecting much, but I managed to capture this kid in mid jump which was cool. This was shot far away as you can't get close to kids in Japan during school as they are all fenced off like prisons, but I did manage to snag this one.
