This is very typical among men working outdoors in Japan regardless of the weather. Construction workers as well can be seen sporting towels wrapped around their heads or neck. It’s very popular and perhaps wise to keep the sweat under control.

In this photo I got pretty much a tilt shift look with just angling the lens and focusing only on a portion of the stone. I rather like this effect and this is one of my favorite photos of the day.
